High chromium carbon steel castings and carbide wear points for farms across Western Canada and the United States.
The man who made tillage tools last
Henry J. Bergen, a Member of the Order of Canada, spent years of research building the wear point with a tungsten carbide insert, the part that made tillage tools last several times longer. He also developed precision air drill openers that place seed and fertilizer more accurately, which raises yields and lowers input costs.
GEN Manufacturing Limited develops, makes, and sells high chromium carbon steel castings for agriculture and industry. These hard, abrasion resistant parts add a lot of life to tillage tools like chisel spikes, cultivator shovels, and seed drill shoes, which means less downtime and lower replacement costs for farmers. As demand grew from larger farm equipment makers, GEN added custom carbide work as well.
David H. Bergen, with a degree in business management, continues to lead the company following the death of Henry in 2020, and keeps the focus on steady, honest work in agricultural steel.
