Questions farmers ask

Ordering and shipping

How much do these parts cost?

Prices move with steel and freight, so we quote each order. Call or send us your list and we will quote a current price for the parts you need.

Are there dealers?

We have some dealers, but a lot of our sales go straight to the farmer.

How are parts shipped and paid for?

Smaller parts ship prepaid by courier in Canada and by USPS from our Montana warehouse in the United States. A small shipping charge goes on your invoice. Goods are paid in full by Visa, Mastercard, or cheque before delivery. Larger parts go by truck, and we let you know before delivery.

Do you ship to farms in the United States?

Yes. Smaller parts ship by USPS from our Montana warehouse, and larger parts go by truck, with notice before delivery. A small shipping charge goes on your invoice, and you can pay by Visa, Mastercard, or cheque.

Warranty and returns

Are the parts warranted?

Every part is warranted against defects in material and workmanship. Wear or breakage from abrasive soil, rocks, or other field conditions may not be covered. All castings meet ISO 9002 quality standards.

What is the return policy?

Unused parts are fully refundable as long as you pay the return freight.

Technical

How do I weld the points on?

Line up and tack the wear point to the tool before heating. Preheat the weld area to about 300°F. Weld with a MIG wire welder, a 7018 low hydrogen rod, or a stainless rod. Then let the parts cool slowly in some kind of insulation.

Why use a wear point?

Welding a chromium carbon steel wear point onto a tool like a cultivator sweep or chisel spike hardens the leading edge, so you cover a lot more acres before you change the tool. That saves money on tools and cuts downtime in the field.

What is a carbide insert?

Tungsten carbide is an extremely hard material used in oil and mining work. We put carbide on some of our chromium steel wear points so the point keeps a sharp leading edge through its whole life and lasts longer. A sharp edge places seed and fertilizer more evenly.

How much longer do carbide tipped parts last than plain steel?

Carbide tipped points hold a sharp leading edge and last several times longer than plain steel in abrasive ground. The exact life depends on your soil, your acres, and how hard the ground runs, so we do not quote one fixed number. The longer life is why a carbide point saves money on tools and cuts downtime in the field.

Can you add carbide to our own parts?

Yes. Major farm equipment makers come to us for custom carbide application, and we do custom carbide installation on standard wear points of many brands. Tell us the part and we will quote the carbide work.
